Chained Beasts

Three chapters

Arenas

Carthage, Germania, and Rome are the three chapters, in that order. Compare puts them in one table. Only Rome names the boss waiting at the end of 1.0.

Start at Carthage
Act I, then the frozen wastes, then Rome and Praefectus.
Arena hazards around a chained crew.

1

Carthage

Opening chapter

The demo boss rides a rhino. 1.0 does not rename that fight.

2

Germania

Frozen wastes

Goliath led the July 2026 beta. 1.0 does not repeat that name.

3

Rome

Heart of the Roman Empire

Praefectus, backed by the Praetorian Guard.

Use the route, then the table

The three links follow chapter order. Compare opens the same three columns: setting and the named figure. No per-chapter map, enemy roster, or battle count inside an act is known.

The full release has three chapters: Carthage, then Germania, then Rome. A 1.0 run is nine battles, a final encounter, and ten difficulty levels. Those totals are not split into a battle count for each region. Fame rises as the crew gets closer to Rome. The bosses on that road are arena heroes, armed with the advantage, and a win is a step toward freedom or revenge.

Which boss name belongs to which version

In the Carthage demo the boss rides a rhino, and 1.0 does not give that fight a different name. Rhino is also a playable beast from May 2026. The mount and the unlock are different uses of the word. Only the playable beast is on Beasts.

Goliath’s jump and ground slam are the July 2026 open-beta moves, on Demo. 1.0 does not name him as the Germania boss. Do not walk into Germania expecting the beta champion to be confirmed.

Rome’s boss in 1.0 is Praefectus, backed by the Praetorian Guard, in the heart of the Roman Empire. No move list is known for Praefectus or the guard.

December’s 1.1 adds another arena and another boss, still unnamed. That plan is on Roadmap, outside these three chapters. The arena is also a weapon: throw an urn at a foe, or a foe at an urn, or charge someone into spikes or a pit of snakes.

Which battle count belongs to which build

1.0 order is Carthage, then Germania, then Rome. Battle counts exist for the earlier Carthage builds, and once for the whole retail game. They are not split inside each chapter.

  • The 29 August 2025 public playtest is an extended Act I in Carthage: five battles and a rhino-riding first boss.
  • The 12 November 2025 demo is Carthage again: sword, spear, mace, or flail, five battles, and a boss mounted on a rhino.
  • Use five for those two Carthage builds. 1.0 does not repeat that count, so a retail Carthage run is not five fights by rule.
  • The closed beta that began on 18 April 2026 previewed a second act, the surgeon, executions, and dismemberments. It did not name a Germania boss.
  • The open beta of 16–19 July 2026 is the Germania visit: Goliath, a jump, a ground slam, the axe, and the Surgeon.
  • Rome's boss, from 15 September 2026, is Praefectus with the Praetorian Guard, in the heart of the empire, with no phase list.
  • Retail as a whole is nine battles across three acts, then a final encounter, on ten difficulty levels. That is not three battles for each region.
  • December's 1.1 adds an arena, a boss, a weapon, and enemies, and names none of them. That is a later region, outside these three chapters.

Why Compare has two rows

Compare shows setting and the named figure, the two facts every chapter has in 1.0. A difficulty row would mix the demo's four labels with the retail set of ten levels.

Pleb, Legionnaire, Centurion, and Hades are the May 2026 demo difficulties. The ten retail levels have no names of their own. They are not part of the chapter comparison.
